VRG awards one $10,000 scholarship, five $5,000 scholarships, and additional runner-up prizes to graduating U.S. high school seniors who have shown compassion, courage, and a strong commitment to promoting a vegan diet/lifestyle in their school or community; payment is made directly to a U.S.-based college.

- Complete the personal information section (contact info, GPA, high school, and college plans)

Write an essay addressing all 16 required prompts about vegan/vegetarian advocacy and future goals

- How you define vegetarian and vegan
- Why vegetarianism and veganism is important to you

- What vegetarian foods you would recommend to a non-vegetarian
- What restaurants you would recommend to a non-vegetarian
- Submit a copy of transcripts or report cards for the past two years
- Submit three or more recommendation letters, including at least one from a teacher
- Submit documentation of vegetarian/vegan promotion activities (photos, news clippings, etc.): Listed among the requested application materials on the official page.
