Special eligibility to verify

  • Tau Beta Pi membership required: These scholarships are restricted to initiated members of the Tau Beta Pi Association on the date the award is made; candidates for membership may apply if they will be initiated by June 1. Tau Beta Pi is an invitation-based engineering honor society — you cannot simply join, so confirm your standing before counting on this.

Application requirements

  • Be an initiated Tau Beta Pi member, or a candidate initiated by June 1: The Constitution and Bylaws restrict these scholarships to initiated members of the Association on the date the scholarship is awarded, and TBP HQ's membership records are the single source of proof. Candidates for membership may apply if they will be initiated by June 1.
  • Submit the application by 11:59 p.m. EDT April 1: Recipients must be full-time senior undergraduate engineering students during the award year; students graduating in the fall semester are eligible for partial scholarships.
  • Upload your transcript: Official or unofficial is fine, but it must be current as of this semester and include collegiate coursework from ALL institutions you have attended.
  • Arrange letters of recommendation (due 11:59 p.m. EDT April 8): Note the letters are due a WEEK AFTER the application itself, not with it. They need to address the scholarship criteria; TBP suggests research mentors, faculty who know you outside the classroom and can speak to your academic and leadership abilities and co-curricular participation, and supervisors.
