National arts competition for emerging artists ages 15-18 (grades 10-12) across 10 disciplines including visual, literary, and performing arts. Award winners receive cash prizes from $250 to $10,000 and mentorship; selection is by portfolio or audition.

Application requirements
- Submit the online application before the deadline: The 2027 application opens July 21, 2026 and closes Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT. Everything must be uploaded and submitted before the deadline, including payment or a fee waiver. YoungArts strongly recommends not waiting until deadline day.
- Prepare the portfolio for your discipline and category: Depending on discipline, the portfolio is video recordings, audio recordings, documents, or images. There are 10 disciplines: Classical Music, Dance, Design, Film, Jazz, Photography, Theater, Visual Arts, Voice, and Writing. Follow the sponsor's guidelines for the exact discipline and category you enter.
- Pay the application fee or submit fee-waiver documentation: The application is not considered complete until payment is processed or fee-waiver documentation is submitted, and this must happen before the deadline like everything else.
