Need-based merit scholarship designed to help students graduate college debt-free. Requires enrollment at an eligible four-year nonprofit college, a 3.5 GPA, household income below the program cap, and 240 hours of work before enrolling. Open to applicants regardless of citizenship.

Application requirements
- Create an account and submit the application: You can apply ONE TIME ONLY, so do not open the application until you are ready. The 2027-2028 application is available from September 1, 2026 for the 2027 graduating class; up to 1,500 scholarships are awarded. Read the sponsor's Scholarship Particulars first: the award must be re-earned every semester. Hagan communicates with applicants only.
- Provide a current copy of your high school transcript
- Provide an "unsealed" letter of recommendation: The sponsor specifies the letter must be unsealed.
- If named a finalist, submit your FAFSA Summary or proof of non-U.S. citizenship: Finalists only. U.S. citizens provide the first two pages of their FAFSA Summary, which must show the SAI. Non-U.S. citizens provide proof of non-U.S. citizenship: a copy of a foreign passport or green card.
- Apply for Federal and State grants if eligible: Listed by the sponsor under eligibility criteria with no exceptions.
- Work 240 hours before your fall disbursement: Required to receive the fall semester disbursement, not to apply: 240 hours between January 1 and September 1 of your enrolling year. Must be regularly scheduled non-family employment, performed under supervision, for compensation; full-time or part-time both count.
