The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides need-based grants to students who are active participants in movements for progressive social change, including work opposing capitalism, racism/white supremacy, hetero-patriarchy and gender-based violence, and environmental exploitation. Applicants must be enrolled in or have applied to a degree, certificate, or trade/technical program and demonstrate financial need.

Application requirements
- Complete the online application form: Applications are available starting January 1 each year via the official Davis-Putter website.
- Submit a personal statement describing movement involvement and financial need: The fund states no application will be seriously considered without evidence of active engagement in social justice/progressive movement work; aspiring to be involved is not sufficient.
- Provide two letters of recommendation
- Submit recent academic transcripts: Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
- Submit Student Aid Report (SAR) or equivalent: Applicants can submit a SAR, state equivalent, or complete the FAFSA Worksheet to the best of their ability; FAFSA itself is not required.
