Application requirements
- Create a SUMaC application account: Applicants use a SUMaC account; parents or guardians are required to submit the application for minor students.
- Rank SUMaC course preferences: Students rank the two available courses, Program I and Program II, in the application.
- Upload academic records: SUMaC requires unofficial transcripts for schools or academic programs where the applicant earned grades over the listed period.
- Request one math teacher recommendation: SUMaC requires one online recommendation form from a math teacher.
- Complete the SUMaC admission exam: The admission exam is a set of challenging proof-based math problems completed at home before the application deadline.
- Submit the optional video essay if useful: The video essay is optional; Stanford strongly encourages it for students whose school language of instruction is not English.
