A national Stony Brook research fellowship for academically talented 11th-grade students. Applicants must be nominated by their high school, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and select preferred faculty mentors or research areas.

Application requirements
- Secure school nomination: Each high school may nominate no more than two eligible students; independently submitted applications can be disqualified.
- Submit the online application: Applicants can begin after confirming nomination status; the 2026 application deadline was February 5.
- Upload transcript or grade report: The online application asks students to upload an unofficial transcript or grade report as a PDF.
- Answer brief application questions: Simons lists brief responses of 300 words or less and prohibits AI-generated or AI-rewritten application content.
- Request two teacher recommendations: Two math/science-preferred teacher letters are required; prior research supervisor letters are encouraged if applicable.
- Select top three mentor or research-area preferences: Applicants are required to select three preferred mentors or research areas in the online application.
