A seven-week in-person research program at Stony Brook's Garcia Center where high school students work in laboratories on original research projects. International students are eligible only if they already have documents allowing legal presence in the U.S. for the program period; the app cannot verify that condition yet.

Application requirements
- Submit application form Parts 1 and 2: The 2026 Garcia application page lists Part 1 and Part 2 of the application form as required.
- Have your school submit the transcript: The transcript must be submitted by school staff or via Parchment; Garcia says self-submitted transcripts are not accepted.
- Request three letters of recommendation: Three letters are required, with at least one from a science teacher; letters must be submitted by the writer through the portal.
- Pay the non-refundable registration fee: The 2026 application page lists a non-refundable $50 registration fee payable by check or wire transfer.
