Application requirements
- Submit the online RISE application: The application must be submitted by the prospective student and can be edited before submission.
- Upload high-school transcript: BU requires a full high-school transcript beginning in 9th grade and including fall 2025 grades for the 2026 application.

Complete RISE essays: RISE requires three essays; Internship applicants also list three faculty of interest and explain research alignment.

- Your academic achievements max 250 words
- Why you want to attend the RISE program max 200 words
- You must list three faculty members you are interested in working with this summer and explain how their research interests align with yours max 250 words
- Request one recommendation: The recommender should be a STEM teacher, guidance counselor, or research supervisor who has known the applicant for at least six months.
- Upload standardized-test scores if choosing to submit: BU lists standardized tests as optional for summer 2026 applicants.
- Upload financial-aid documents if applying for aid: Financial aid documents must be uploaded with the application; admission decisions are made without regard to aid requests.
