Essay guide
Leadership, service, and impact essays
The prompt says leadership; the reader wants evidence of initiative and effect on other people. Titles are optional, outcomes are not.
How to approach it
- Choose the story where something changed because you acted, even if you held no title.
- Quantify what you honestly can (people, hours, dollars) and describe what you cannot.
- Give the setback one sentence: what went wrong and what you adjusted reads as maturity.
- End on the people affected, not on yourself.
Do
- Show initiative you took without being asked
- Credit the team while owning your part
- Use one number that makes scale real
Avoid
- Equate a position with impact
- Inflate numbers
- Make the conclusion about your own growth only
